For Weddings…

For a bride. Made out of raw silk noil, taffeta, and lace from her dress.

For a bride. Made out of raw silk noil, taffeta, and lace from her dress.

Recently I have been trying my hand at hair accessories for weddings.  I had to opportunities to create pieces for someone’s very special day.  The one above I created for a bride who wanted to use the lace from her dress.  She only had a piece that was 6 inches by 8 inches, so I added some taffeta and raw silk noil.  I worked with details of the lace to create a layered flower.  The ones below were for several bride’s maids.  The bride wanted them to have predominately white with a hint of blue.  I made several, so she could pick her favorite style, and I would make more of which ever one she liked best.  She loved all of them so much that now each girl their own unique one.

I will post pictures of all the lovely ladies wearing them soon!

You can check out some more of my hair accessories on my etsy page.

New Shop Selling My Hair Clips!!

Viola & Clyde

Recently I was approached through my Etsy page by the owner of the Strawberry Blond Salon to sell my hair clips in her new store Viola & Clyde.  It is an adorable little shop at 29 Magnolia Road that specializes in new, local, and vintage clothing and accessories for men and women.  When I went to drop the little clips off I became tempted by all the fun clothes (I am a sucker for vintage).  My hair clips will be going on the “local” table in the center of the shop.

Inspiration found in Washington

PikesMarket1PikesMarket2PikesMarket4

Recently I had the pleasure of traveling to Washington.  I got to go to three very different places that gave me a world of inspiration!!  The first stop was Seattle.  Walking through Pikes Market, I got to see a wide array of colors and smells from the florist & vegetable vendors.  It makes me wish that we had a daily market here in Charleston.  We bought some local plums and cherries for our camping trip to the gorge.

Our next stop was Guemes Island, which is on the northern coast of Washington.  We went to visit one of the artist that I represent at Martin Gallery, Leo E. Osborne.  Him and his wife Jane have a gorgeous home filled with paintings and sculpture, and their yard is filled with my favorite… lavender!!  Our next stop was the Gorge where we got to see Phish play two night in a row. It truly was an amazing trip!!!
